Reddit video download not working? What to check

Check the link first

Open the link yourself and make sure it leads to the intended public Reddit post. Copy the post link again rather than a community URL or a search-results page. Paste the complete link without surrounding text.

Private, deleted or unsupported content

If a post requires private-community access, its media has been removed, or it embeds an unsupported external video, Redpork may be unable to retrieve it. The service cannot recover deleted files or use your Reddit login to unlock content.

Find an accessible public source you have permission to use. Repeatedly submitting the same unavailable post is unlikely to help.

Connection errors and temporary limits

A request can fail because Reddit is limiting requests, your connection was interrupted, or a media server did not respond. Wait before retrying rather than repeatedly pressing Download video.

If preparation fails, keep the original Reddit link and try again. If Redpork says two videos are already being prepared, wait for one to finish. For a file-size error, choose a lower available quality; duration limits cannot be bypassed by reducing quality.

When the interface shows Reconnecting, it is trying to check the preparation status again. If an error persists, note the exact message for support.

Expired results or download files

Results and prepared files are temporary and normally expire after about an hour. The /download address does not contain a link to your result. To send someone the same video, share the original Reddit post or the downloaded file.

If you see an expired-link message, open the downloader and paste the original Reddit link again. A fresh direct visit shows the input form. Clearing cookies or opening a different browser can also prevent access to an earlier result.

The download started, but where is the file?

Check the browser’s download list first. If the transfer is complete, open its saved location. If the browser blocked or cancelled it, use Save file again and respond to the browser’s download prompt.

On an iPhone, a browser download is usually found in Files rather than Photos. For exact device steps, use the file-location section of the download guide.

Missing sound or unexpected quality

Check the result’s With sound or No sound label and listen to the original post. The preview may be silent even when the downloaded file contains audio. Try opening the saved file in another compatible media player if the source has sound but playback does not.

If the problem continues, send a message through Feedback. Include the public Reddit post link, the exact error message, your device and browser, and what you were doing when it failed.

Do not send passwords, private account details or sensitive personal information. Include the quality you selected and whether the problem occurred with Download or Save / Share.
